Princess Theatre

Melbourne’s iconic Princess Theatre is regarded by many as Melbourne’s most spectacular landmark. Dating back as far as 1854, the theatre was purchased by Marriner Theatres in 1986 and plans were put in place for its total refurbishment and to ensure its future viability as a live theatre venue. The Princess Theatre reopened in 1989 with the musical ‘Les Miserables’ followed by ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ which established a new record for the longest-running show ever staged in Victoria.

Jeopardy TV Show

Hosted by Tony Barber, an Australian version of the popular American quiz show, but . The lavish opulence of the Regent Theatre is a product of the glorious fantasy and escapism of Hollywood, right in the heart of Melbourne. Originally a ‘picture palace’, the Regent is now one of Melbourne’s premier live performance venues.

Crown Permanent Casino

The Crown Casino complex includes a five star hotel, restaurants, cinemas, prestige retail and three 10m x 10m signs in addition to the main gaming areas. In the retail areas, the lighting control system functions as a programmable distribution board so that total flexibility is available for tenancy changes. Twenty-four hour operation and maintaining security are key concerns. Essential circuits to areas such as gaming tables have to be maintained in the event of a power failure. Therefore non-essential areas are faded down or switched off via an automatic load-shedding system. Everything about the project is huge. There are more than two million lamps, ranging from low voltage filament and fluorescent to metal halide lamps. Even the signage systems utilise 400 circuits of neon. The system utilises trunk and spur technology which provides maximum flexibility in large, complex installations such as this. This provides isolation of electrical faults to individual spurs.

Colonial Stadium

Melbourne's Colonial Stadium has been brought to life with a spectacular computer controlled exterior lighting installation called Vox Lumiere Urban Art. The design has two basic operating modes - Static lighting of certain architectural features and Kinetic lighting that responds to the crowd noise generated inside the stadium. A touch screen has a built in time clock that is used to either manually switch the lighting on, or pre- program either static or kinetic lighting to operate at specific times and dates.

101 Collins St

101 Collins Street is a prestige office building in Melbourne's CBD. The building's owners wished to take full advantage of the height and location of the building and make a signature statement to promote their asset. Lightmoves supplied Studio Due City Color floodlights to illuminate the major section of the mast. The lighting control system utilises the Dynet protocol from Dynalite, which integrates with the building's existing management system, and provides DMX-512 control to the light fixtures for colour selection control.

Hisense Arena

Lightmoves has successfully completed the implementation of control of the upgraded Sports Lighting to Rod Laver and John Cain Arenas. LED Fixtures are individually controlled with a Pharos controller via ArtNet and DMX Integrated into the site’s Dynalite Head End. Eastlink Hotel

Hotel is a really successful artwork and a great example of public art that addresses its site and context. Callum Morton is probably best known for his sculptural work and he is particularly skilled at working with scale. When you first drive past you probably think it’s a real hotel, albeit strangely located, but then you notice something’s not quite right. It's the odd scale that triggers this response, somewhere between model, real building and sculpture.

Melbourne Exhibition Centre

2009 saw the opening of the southern hemisphere's largest – and the worlds first 6 star energy rated – convention centre. The Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, located in the new south wharf precinct, is one of the largest and more impressive projects seen in this state for many years. From the 5000+ seat Plenary Hall, to the 32 state-of-the-art meeting rooms, to the 1500 seat Grand Banquet Hall, this convention centre aims to position Melbourne very highly in the lucrative world convention market.

Melbourne Recital Centre

The Melbourne Recital Centre is a stunning venue that will play home to some of the country's top performances of classical music. The main auditorium, named the Elizabeth Murdoch Hall, is a stunning 1000 seat venue with astounding acoustics and an impressive timber look to it. The Saloon is a smaller more intimate space that can be used for smaller events or as a rehearsal venue. Lightmoves supplied Dynalite Lighting Control through out the entire venue, as well as Osram warm-white LED step lights, and Tridonic LED fixtures in the main Foyer

AAMI Park Stadium

Sitting close to the MCG, Rod Laver Arena and Olympic Park, AAMI Park is the latest addition to Melbourne's elite sport and entertainment precinct. From the early stages of the project, Lightmoves worked very closely with Major Projects Victoria and lighting consultants Electrolight to come up with a solution for the proposed roof feature lighting scheme. Teaming with another local company – Space Cannon Australia – Lightmoves created a custom solution that managed to fit within the unique roof structure. The 1544 colour-changing and weatherproof LED fittings act like a low resolution video screen and are controlled by video content that was especially commissioned by the artists.

Melbourne Theatre Company

After spending much of its life in borrowed spaces, Melbourne Theatre Company finally gained a home of their own, with the construction of this new venue which incorporates the 500 seat Sumner Theatre and the highly flexible Lawler Studio. Lightmoves supplied a number of different Space Cannon fittings for this project, including customised Athena LED fixtures for the incredible colour-changing 'Word Wall' in the main auditorium, custom Maya 9 LED downlights in the main auditorium roof and Pictor 6 LED fixtures in the sound locks. The supplied Dynalite system gives building-wide lighting control including Front Of House, house lighting in the auditorium and backstage lighting. Dynalite LED controllers are used to control the various LED fixtures in the venue. Lightmoves also supplied Osram Step Lights for the main auditorium, ETC source 4 house lights, an Enttec E-Streamer to change the colour of the LED's and a series of Selecon Aureol Beamspots in the Foyer.

Shrine of Rememberance

One of Melbourne's most recognisable landmarks has undergone a major upgrade with the recent addition of a new Visitor Centre. The contemporary 2000m2 centre includes exhibition spaces, auditorium, offices, courtyards, and the Gallery of Medals. The main feature of the upgrade was to make it accessible to visitors without having to climb 50 steps, a feat almost impossible for some older visitors and veterans. Lightmoves was commissioned by several different designers to provide lighting solutions for various areas including exhibition lighting, fibre optic and L.E.D. lighting, architectural highlights and overall lighting control.

Ullumbra Theatre Bendigo

Bendigo’s Ulumbarra Theatre rises majestically from what was once the Sandhurst Gaol. The theatre is a redevelopment of the gaol, which operated from 1863 until 2004. Today you walk into an extraordinary arts and community facility and events venue that cleverly fuses heritage-listed 1860s penitentiary architecture and contemporary design. Lightmoves provided and installed a complete fit out of the very latest Sound, Vision and Lighting

Geelong PAC

Amongst the surrounds of a green, leafy Johnstone Park and overlooking Corio Bay stands Geelong's latest architectural and cultural icon, the Geelong Library & Heritage Centre. Standing next to the sandstone Geelong Peace Memorial built in 1926; the new library creates a seamless yet striking juxtaposition of the historic and the contemporary. To complement the library's futuristic look and sustainable vision, Lightmoves provided a lighting control system, which enhances the buildings function and reduces its energy consumption. An array of PE and PIR sensors are used to activate only areas which are in use and the latest Philips Dynalite AntumbraDisplay panels provide a great level of customised control. The system provided by Lightmoves interacts with the Building Management System via BACnet, a protocol used combine various assets including the lighting, HVAC and other automated functions and utilities.

Palais Theatre

The Palais Theatre is one of Melbourne’s most renowned live music venues. When the call came to assist with the refurbishments of a venue with such a vibrant history, it was a job Lightmoves just had to be a part of. Lightmoves supplied custom LED strip lighting to the Palais Theatre, used in the iconic front facade windows, as well as internally in the foyer, and surrounding the extravagant dome ceiling.

Bunjil Place Narre Warren

As the City of Casey's vibrant new entertainment precinct, Bunjil Place is the first facility of its kind to bring together creativity, entertainment and community in a way that is unparalleled in Australia. Bunjil Place was no small undertaking by builder Multiplex, housing an 880 seat regional theatre, exhibition and function studios, regional art gallery, community library and plaza, civic centre, council offices and an underground car park. Lightmoves partnered with electrical contractor Anova to provide a multitude of technical marvels in the building, including a wide range of lighting & audio equipment, technical infrastructure, complete building lighting control, exterior feature lighting, and much more.

The Capitol Theatre

Having originally been involved in 1999 and 2002 with site tests to try to find an alternate illumination solution for the ceiling, Lightmoves was the obvious choice for the restoration project. From the restoration’s conception, Lightmoves worked closely with GHD Consulting to design a LED lighting concept that was as true to the original design as possible. Lightmoves manufactured RGBW LED Bars in-house for site functional testing; in conjunction with GHD Consultants, Six Degree Architects, Hutchinson’s, and RMIT. Following the successful functional tests, Lightmoves worked hand-in-hand with electrical contractor BN Electrical and builder Hutchinson to develop the design and documentation of the DMX and control philosophy, along with an installation methodology. Once the exhaustive design & documentation process was finalized, the custom in-house manufacturing was completed and the LED Bars were delivered to site for installation, testing, and focussing. Following the focus, the Lightmoves technicians skilfully commissioned the DMX control system, including the RGBW LED bars, to meet RMIT’s scope.
